I read that this new plan is the product of a joint subcommittee, which worked throughout this past summer. The earlier version was the product of quite a few public working groups. These had been led by a competent professional from the University of Florida. Some 300 or much more citizens participated also as the Planning & Zoning Board along with the Town Commission. The commission, at our professional facilitators recommendation, sought statistical validation of preliminary results through a survey of a larger population sample. The commission provided funding for this validation survey (by 1 votemine). For quite a few reasons, some political, this validation was not accomplished. Now it appears that a small committee of four or five has produced a plan where 300-plus could not. The 6,000-plus voters have never been involved inside the process. I know some of you'll say we had two referenda and an election to decide these policy areas. We seriously did not.
